Why is Dev Deepawali Celebrated? According to Hindu mythology, the Gods descend to the Ganga on this night to celebrate Lord Shiva’s victory over the demon Tripurasura . The ghats are decorated with millions of diyas , and devotees offer prayers and take holy dips in the river, creating an atmosphere that is nothing short of magical.
